The DV-50S is considered by many to be one of the best multidisc players ever produced. In stock form some prefer its more musical sound to Esoteric's higher priced models. This DV-50S have been completely modified with vastly superior parts twice, first by RAM then by Audio Horizons. Everything that can be improved was done. Mods include new dgital clock with seperate powersupply, Blackgate caps in critical locations, complete upgrade of power supply board with super fast diodes, caps, regulators, etc., thorough upgrades to the digital board and analog output board, with superior resisters, op amps, caps, etc., pure silver wire, Cryoed IEC, WBT connectors (cost $3500). The result is to transform an excellent player to a true reference level machine superior to much higher priced players. The sound is incredibly smooth, extended, and dynamic. Most of all it is highly musical. This sound quality applies to all discs, CD, SACD, DVD, etc, through its analog output. Since the digital section have been highly modified and it has a new superior ditigal clock this machine is also an outstanding digital transport.
