Here we have an excellent condition 3 1/2 way floor stander form the legendary Miles Nestorovic. There are about 8 levels in this series and this is 2nd from the top after the Epsilon model, which had additional dampening material added to the already well damped cabinet, a silver ribbon tweeter, and had an additional super tweeter. This one(Mark V Reference) has a copper ribbon tweeter. and some prefer the sound of copper anyhow. What makes it the Reference is the sophisticated cabinet dampening, huge Cardas caps in the cross over, and all top of the line Cardas wire internally .These were close to $20,000 for a new pair at the end of their production in 2007. There is a very small dent in the upper right corner of one speaker in the back ( so you cant see it unless you 'look' for it, about the size of a piece of Kosher salt. Otherwise in sensation shape, Nice smokey, golden white oak finish, and the veneer is otherwise flawless. Try finding a speaker under $15K that sounds this good anywhere. I'm scaling down in size, so I need to part ways, and frankly this speaker is superior to that which I must replace it with. You will hear a huge stage, great bass, sweet, airy, detailed extended highs, but the mids are the real killer - great musical texture with just the right amount of body and weight. Organic and natural sounding. I feel funny having to desribe the sound because it's the kind of speaker where you don't really tend to analyze, but rather just get lost in the music, and continue to be amazed at how natural they sound. They just sound 'right'. There is a 3 position switch in the back the adjusts the bass level, and a 3 position switch for bass dampening level for each speaker to help properly tune to you room. Don't you wish all speakers had this? I have the original boxes to ship safely and ONLY AT FULL ASKING PRICE I will pay for shipping costs to 48 states. I just had the four bass driver's surrounds replaced by an expert shop here in the L.A. area. The smutz you may notice in the pics around the perimeter of the baffle, is just some of the adhesive from the making tape i had put down as I covered the veneer with heavy construction paper while they were worked on to protect the cosmetics. I'll clean that off before shipping. Yes they have grills, which are also in excellent shape.
