Up for sale is my babied Krell KSA-80. This is one of the best sounding Krell amps and it runs full class A with completely passive cooling, putting out 80W into 8 ohms, 160W into 4 ohms, 320W into 2 ohm and 640W into 1 ohm.
Since I acquired it, I have completely refurbished the unit. As we all know, these amps run hot and many key components like the caps need to be replaced after 10 years and the plastic cased driver transistors are prone to thermal failure. Therefore, I replaced the 4 beer can power supply capacitors with new higher voltage units, all driver board power supply capacitors with audiophile ROE caps with double the original capacity, the DC servo integrating capacitors with audiophile 10uF caps, all plastic power driver transistors with identical but metal versions that are higher power rated and replaced the speaker connectors with upgraded binding posts. I also reflowed each and every single solder joint on the driver boards to ensure continued reliability. Now the amp really sings with my Martin Logans but now I have to downsize my collection so this sadly has to go.
Cosmetically wise, the unit has some very light scratches on top, no noticeable defects on the front plate and some scratches on the heat sink fins, mostly on the right side, where the previous owner putting it on the shelf. Of course none of it impacts the performance of the amp.
The successful bidder has the option to purchase a high quality fully shielded power cable with high quality IEC connectors and a pair of high quality RCA cables that I used with the amp at $60, a steal.
The amp is very heavy and will be well packed for shipping. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions!
I will also include an emailed or printed copy of the operating instructions and schematics. The instructions will show you how to wire it for other ac mains voltages. The unit can also be strapped to become a monster single channel amp.
