DAC IS AVAILABLE AGAIN. Buyer backed out after he found out this is a USB-only DAC. The S/PDIF input has been disabled but can be re-enabled by Goto USA at no charge (to you) if desired. But USB is the way to run this DAC: the USB input is excellent and won't be beaten by external USB converters.

This is a Lampizator Level 5, Gen 4 DAC manufactured May of 2012. In the spring of 2013 it was modded by the then-Lampizator importer (Ming Su of Goto USA) to include support for playing DSD64 and DSD 128 (by USB or S/PDIF). To accomplish this the DAC chip was changed to the FN 1242.

It is in as good a cosmetic condition as any Lampizator I've seen but I'm conservatively rating it a 7 due to the boutique nature of these DACs.

This is the full two-box level 5 with all the power supply & other upgrades and improvements discussed on the Lampizator site.

I also owned a PCM-only L4 G4 Lamp and the sound of this unit is very similar, with the added DSD support.

Be aware that the USB input is on the inside of the unit: one must remove the case top to plug in the USB cable. This was evidently to keep the signal path short.

It will ship in the original packaging which is fine shape but of a bit of a DIY-nature (no factory produced fitting foam blocks, for instance).

Be aware that these things cost around $8K new. You aren't going to get a hi-res/DSD DAC of this quality for anywhere near this price! I am pricing it for a pretty quick sale, I hope.

I am selling it because I am becoming a monk, moving, getting back into vinyl, owe money to the mob, just want to try something else, listen to music too much with it, and have gone deaf.

Goto USA offers support for the DAC.
