AKAI GX-747,auto reverse, bidirectional recording,EE tape capable, in beautiful condition.First let me say this was just bought from original owner, who said he bought it new in 1982,but here is the kicker ,it has made a total of three tapes all its life, the owner said that he bought a nak. cassette deck shortly after & wanted to make tapes he could also use in his cars,so although he operated the functions of the 747 once in a while he never really used it,Heads are absolutely like new & nothing else was touched either. When I received it I gave it a light service, cleaned & demaged heads, cleaned controls with Deoxit, oiled pinch roller & counter wheels etc.The inside is as clean as outside,Well now for the test,i just took a couple of my test tapes & recorded on them in the 3- 3/4 speed & was amazed at the quality of sound at the low speed, what a great machine to make party mixes on,next on to 7-1/2 speed & at that speed it sounds better than my Teac 1000R which really surprised me & that was with 30 year old Maxell UD tape,i can't wait to try some of the modern tapes.I have tried most of the functions & everything works great. This was Akai's top of the line & last reel to reel recorder made, very hard to find in this condition, the Akai take up reel is still new in box & wrapper. This recorder has all the bells & whistles as you would expect from the top recorder, such as fine speed control, lots of program options, return to zero function,EE tape,& the list goes on & on. Shipping is 80.00 to 48 US states only & will include insurance, heavy duty box, lots of bubble wrap &Styrofoam,it will be shipped by FedEx.I have shipped a lot of these in my 45 years of collecting & know what it takes to get it to you safe. Please see my other auctions for more great recorders. Price is firm.
