A reference turntable at a real world price, especially for this previously owned piece.
The Roksan Xerxes 20 is very hard to find used as it is a design that has been continuously refined over the years and is an absolute incredible performer. Most owners hang on to them for life.
This Xerxes 20 (not the "Plus" version) is in very good condition in a stunning Rosewood finish and features Roksan's Reference speed drive, Artemiz tonearm and London Decca Reference cartridge. This is an incredible package. The latest prices we had from 2016 were $7,500 for the Xerxes.20 Plus, $4,000 CAD just for the speed drive, $5,500 CAD for the Artemiz tonearm and $5,250 USD (approx. $7,200 CAD) for the London Decca Reference cartridge. Dust cover (not pictured) is included as well. This brings a replacement value of this setup slightly over $24,000 CAD.
Research the Xerxes 20 and you'll discover the following this turntable has had over the years.
Info on the speed drive: Caspian system DX2 turntable speed control for this record playing system, uses the same motor drive PCB as that of the TMS 3 reference record player. The DX2 utilises a massive 350 VA ultra-low noise internally and externally shielded Toroidal transformer that feeds the DS1 internal DC power supply for the motor drive. Built in the Caspian M series chassis, the Xerxes speed control uses the TMS2 motor control board and the state of the art power supply DS1.5. The speed control box is fitted with a high quality mains inlet filter and matches the rest of the Caspian system. The Reference model comes with the DS1.5 power supply and has a retail of $4000.00 CAD. DS1.5 DC Power Module REFERENCE MODEL Output Voltage +26, 0, -26 Vdc Noise < 10 microvolts (ref. 1 Hz - 3 MHz) Output Impedance < 0.01 Ohm (ref. 20 Hz - 20 kHz)
Note: on the front picture of the speed drive, you'll notice something "that seems" loose by the 33/45 and on/off buttons. That's actually the protective plastic which has never been removed. Remove that thin film of plastic and underneath it will look like new!
The Artemiz tonearm is still Roksan's reference tonearm and very highly regarded.
The London Decca Reference moving-iron cartridge is still in production and considered by many to still be one of the most musically involving cartridges available. This cartridge has a lot of life left in it and will give you musical enjoyment for a very long time.
Replacing this exact setup would run over $24,000 CAD. Get this previously owned setup for $9,999 and save a bundle.
Local sale would be preferred, but all the original packaging is available so it can be properly packed if needed.
