Very Rare Kyocera receiver arrived into the market in 1985-1989, in order to capture attention and sales they offered quality not usually seen in the current manufacturers. The R-861 has 100 per channel, Dynamic short term power, at 1 kHz, 8 ohm, 120W + 120W 4 ohm, 180W + 180W 2 ohm, 230W + 230W, huge toroidal transformer, BIG capacitors, a stunning tuner in need of repair, Great MC/MM phono stage, 3-way parametric tone controls. It is incredibly powerful and FYI, I'm advising you not to slide the volume control very far. It is in extremely good condition for a unit of its age.
This was my personal receiver for a very long time. It will always be one of my favorite top receivers. **Occasionally the tuner works when it wants too but the power is extraordinarily awesome!
It has rosewood side panels which are soft. There are a few minor flaws due to age but not easily noticed.
The amplifier section utlilizes MOS FETs in the driver stage and similar high-quality devices in all other stages. The circuit design has open loop to cut down on negative feedback for low distortion and high-speed performance. Oxygen free copper and other luxury parts are abundantly used for the best possible sound quality.
