Offered is my Cayin Ha-1A Headphone Amp. It is actually quite versatile in that it is an integrated amplifier, a preamp, and a remarkable headphone amp. I originally bought it as a headphone amp. It can be used either in Triode or Ultralinear mode. Both sound amazing but Triode to me is always a little sweeter. It operates in full class A in either mode.
As a preamp, it's no slouch! I was shocked at it's transparency and sound staging. I have heard tube preamps that cost 5 times as much that were less resolved and no where near as engaging.
Well yes, it is an integrated amp. It's by no means is a powerhouse, but that is just an added feature. It for sure is not the reason to consider owning one. It is simply a remarkable headphone amp.
It uses (2) EL84 tubes, (1) 12AU7 and (1) 12AX7. It was supplied with some rather pedestrian tubes so I ordered all NOS EI tubes. EI tubes were made on Telefunken equipment, bought from Telefunken when they stopped making tubes. Well... Now it sounds crazy good.
I am selling this because I am always traveling. I listen to my iPhone with most of the time. This has less than 100 hours on it total and 25 hours or less on the new tubes.
