Absolutely stunning single-ended 300B stereo amplifier from the Combak Corporation in Japan, now called Harmonix. Retail price was (it was recently discontinued) $25K. This is the US import version (117V) and is in perfect operating condition. This was owned by a collector who barely played it. It has maybe a dozen hour playing time tops. It's a few years old: I brought it up to voltage slowly on a Variac and have put a couple hours on it testing 300B tubes. Wow, does it sound good! Wish I could afford to keep it. Check out the online reviews for this amp in Positive Feedback, 6Moons, etc. I must say that this amp surprised me: it drove every pair of speaker I had in the house, even some inefficient ones, and made every speaker sound better. It has output taps for 2-Ohm, 4-Ohm and 8-Ohm speakers via eight high-end WBT terminals.
Operationally, this amp works simply and beautifully: you turn it on and a red LED turns slowly to green when the tubes are up to full voltage. It is self-biased and quiet as can be. Cosmetically, there is one mark on a corner (see 4th photograph) which prevents a "9" grade, but it is operationally new (with low hours) and it's overall appearance is like new. Any wear to this amp is shelf-wear: it was moved around on a shelf but was unused.
This amp can be purchased two ways:
1. For those who have their own WE tubes or want to use Chinese or Russian tubes, I will sell this amp without tubes for $7,000.00. Russian and Chinese copies of the WE310A and WE 300B are readily available.
2. For those who want NOS tubes, I offer this amp (as shown in photos) with a pair (from 2006) of Westrex genuine Western Electric 300B tubes, an original matched pair of WE 310A input tubes and a JAN USA 5R4WGB rectifier (comes with an aluminum shield) for a total of $9,000. For those who want the amp without the Westerex 300Bs, but with the input and rectifier tubes, please inquire.
No power cable is included. I assume you will want to use your own high-end mains cable.
Note that I also photographed the amp with and without the plexi cage, which attaches with four small brackets. The brackets can be removed for a cleaner look.
Price is for pickup in the Chicago metro area, once payment clears. Will ship to USA/Canada at buyer's additional expense and risk. Please feel free to make an offer, but I am not interested in trades.
