Black ash, 11 ohm version, purchased in 1994, one owner [me] never shipped during ownership. Shipped direct to me by the American importer. I have hand carried these speakers among my belongings (like fine wine, record collection or film/photo stock) over their ownership
I owned the gold badge and this speaker concurrently, I used these sparingly and put greater time on my original pair. These were like my coveted stash… lols. I never thought that I would sell them, n’lols. I sold my 'gold badge LS3/5a' in 96 and kept this pair… I always liked them better.
Only powered speakers with vacuum tubes, (mostly). These amps ‘took care of my speakers’ and ~ these speakers took good care of my amps ~ the LS3/5a is indeed legendary and pure magic when paired with the right gear.
While it may sound extreme... I will admit, I always handled them with freshly washed hands and/or towels, they have no grime and finger oils on the speakers surface, they have a uniform matte finish. They look like new.
Never used in sustained UV light environment, dedicated music rooms only, on the north side of my homes. ..never.. exposed to 2nd hand smoke ..never.. (over) tightened to needed to tighten screws into the baffle (It is common) to see compromised (splintered wood) front baffle screw seats / holes.
The woofer surrounds do not suffer obvious signs of wear, ritual abuse, exposure and oxidation common to many beloved LS3/5a speaker you see in so many ads.
It is common to see degradation of the adhesives on the front face of many speakers. The woofer dust caps or tweeter protection grills have never been re-bonded on these speakers.
There are 4 anchor point dimples on bottoms Otherwise, not a snag or pull in the speaker grills, and no corner wear of the speaker cabinet paint from handling.
Asking $2999.00, Make me an offer (always open to reasonable offers)
