Below are a few reviews. From the Absolute Sound. “Other than being fascinated by the bass performance, I was impressed by many aspects of the M-60. In my experience, few tube amplifiers have the purity and neutrality of this one. Expansiveness of soundstage and extension on top has to rank with the best, too. The sound is smooth, but not syrupy smooth, with no excess fat needing to be trimmed. If you like bloat and coloration, you probably won’t like the Atma-Sphere. Most important is the M-60’s ability to bring you closer to the music. A film or layer of grunge is removed that you didn’t even know existed before. It’s often described as the difference between being a spectator at a musical event and being part of it. When I first sat down to listen to the M-60 I couldn’t help thinking of that guy in the V-8 commercial slapping his forehead and saying, “I coulda had an OTL!”
From Dagogo (review is based on an earlier Mk 3 .1 model). “The Atma-Sphere M-60 Mk 3.1 gives you great sound for the money. For many speakers, these amps will be about as good as it gets. Truth is, I found the sound on all three speakers I tried them with to only be bettered by amps that cost three and four times as much. Thus, you should consider them very highly recommended.”
From Soundstage “Once connected the Atma-Spheres, they sounded open and fast, with good frequency extension at both ends of the audioband. My S-30 Mk.3 amplifier had led me to expect excellent deep bass, with good detail and tunefulness, and the M-60 Mk.3.1s didn’t disappoint. With Folia Rodrigo Martinez, performed by Jordi Savall and his band and ripped from their La Folia 1490-1701 (CD, Alia Vox AFA 9805), a large bass drum goes down to the middle of the 20-30Hz range. The M-60s reproduced the drum with plenty of impact and weight, but with more extension and detail than I sometimes hear even from solid-state amps.”
“A quote on Atma-Sphere’s home page says: “These OTL amps are arguably the most beautiful sounding amps in the world regardless of price.” You won’t hear any argument from me.” From the Atma-Sphere Website description. For years now the M-60 in its various forms has been the subject of the Soundstage!.com Hall of Fame Award, The Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award and Editor's Choice, with numerous accolades in the press and on the web.
