Custom Tortuga LDR preamp with Pass B1 buffer and headphone amp This LDR preamp is built around the Tortuga LDR3x.v2.1 Passive preamp controller (with associated dual display modules, input relay board and encoder module), along with a Pass B1 buffer. The preamp has 3 inputs, and uses a high quality linear power supply (not the typical wall wart). There are 2 sets of RCA outputs to power your main amplifier and a second pair to feed subwoofer(s) if desired. Includes a 12v remote trigger output to turn your main amp on and off. Top quality parts have been used in construction, including Vampire gold/Teflon RCAs, Avel transformer, schottky diodes for rectifiers, LT1086 regulator to power the Tortuga LDR board, Soniccap capacitors on the Pass B1 buffer board, along with rare original Toshiba FETs for the B1 buffer. The aluminum case was custom made by Ango enclosures, and uses threaded inserts and all stainless steel hardware. Wiring is all Teflon coated, using Kimber TCSS for all audio and power connections. The headphone amplifier is a clone of the Grado RA-1, and is also built with quality components. There is a rear panel USB connector used to update the Tortuga firmware, and it is the latest 2.2.8 version (as shown in the second photo). The unit is both cosmetically and functionally excellent, working fine with no problems except that the headphone amp has a low level noise from the displays, but the Tortuga allows setting the display to shut off at a user determined time after each use, eliminating the noise from the headphone circuit. The main outputs are dead quiet. There is a front panel switch to turn off the rear panel 12V trigger output when using the headphone amp (to shut off your amp & speakers). This unit also comes with an Apple remote to control the preamp. Sold as-is, but local buyers are welcome to see and hear the unit.
