I got this Fisher SA-1000 it's over 50 years old, it is working but should it be recaped for best performance and will any mods affect its overall value when I decide to sell it. I have posted pictures in my gallery JT1016

If it is still all-original and it is working, then NOW is the time to sell it.

Yes, re-capping would be the thing to do with an old piece of gear like this, but collectors highly prize pieces with all-original parts that are still working.

You have to decide whether it's more important for you to get a GREAT resale price or to own and operate this piece. You can't have both.

If ANYTHING significant (besides tubes) has been replaced in that amp already, you might as well re-cap it, and enjoy it, IME.

If it's a true "survivor"- then leave it that way... but be prepared to put it on a shelf, and not use it- it will be like a historical artifact more than a music reproduction device.

Regards,
Gordon.
