Yes, I've owned Stax SR-007 and SR-404. Both older models. The former one of the best headphones I ever owned.

I have a few different pairs of Stax headphones. I love them. They're electrostatic, so they're very "fast"... not warm and fuzzy but quite precise, transparent, and sparkly. Their bass is tight and melodic, but won't give you a full boomy bass presentation, in case that's your preference.

I agree with the other assessment of the STAX cans. They WERE. The best headphones by far for twenty years. Now I also own HifiMan model 6s and they are incredable with their matching amp.
Everyone should own a STAX pair. Their detail is unsurpassed

Proud owner of Stax SR-007 and SRM717. The best headphones in my life.

I have a few recommendations. First, I have to say that the Stax SRM323S amp is great. It performs much better than it's price would suggest. Also look at Koss ESP950's they are great cans that are only made better by getting an adapter so that you can use them with Stax amps.

Also, not sure what your budget is. But if you can afford this, I believe that you would be hard pressed to do better unless you spend a lot more. I would buy it if I could afford it:

I sold my Stax's last year. I still have the portable amp for Stax that I need to sell, but those Lambda's were really great, but I didn't like the bass.

I had a set of SRX Mark3 with an SRD-7 amp and they were the best reference ear speaker system I ever heard.
If you had any concerns about changes you were making to your system or source material,
those would reveal its strengths and weaknesses in a hurry.
IMO, It takes the very best in both to fully appreciate their performance.

I now have their top of the SR-009. It is the closest I have heard to a completely full range (including bass horn) horn system for naturalness, dynamics and detail with classical music.

I have heard the Stax SR009, having the tremendous amount of detail and naturalness. Definitely one of the Best Buy for headphone.

The nice thing is that there are many other great headphones out as it's in it's heyday. Go listen and enjoy what's out there.

I own the L700's. They are stunning. I'm using their 323x amp and it's a really good match.
