I just purchased a classe 30 preamp. It sounds great on my line inputs but my phono inputs sounds horrible. Not sure what’s wrong. I changed needles and turntables and I can’t get a clean sound out of it. Any suggestions?

Make sure the internal jumper is set to PHONO:

From the manual:

PHONO/AUX
The 30 preamplifier can be configured as a PHONO or LINE unit by setting the internal jumpers. The PHONO and AUX share the same pair of RCA input jacks. The following steps should be performed to switch between them. 1) Make sure MUTE is ON (Steady GREEN) 2) Disconnect A.C. line cord from the wall outlet. 3) Remove the top cover with the Allen key supplied. 4) Locate PHONO/AUX Input and Output jumpers. Switch to desired type of input.

not sure I would have purchased any type of Classe gear since they are getting ready to close their doors. if something should happen to the Preamp, how do you plan on getting it fixed ???

Because it sounds good.
I have always felt the same way about the women I date.
