Hi. How are you? I purchased a storage locker the other day and found me a Carver SD/A 490T CD player. It was packaged nice in a box. (Not original box) and no remote. It looks perfect though. Not a scratch or scuff anywhere. I do a lot of deals on ebay but I can't find anything on this unit as far as value goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated and the best place to try and sell this item???

The research i just did shows "selling" prices between $250-$300. These had the box, packaging, manual and remote. CD players in general, usually don't bring big dollars anymore, but this does have tubes in it, so it's a little unique.

I'm assuming it works? Did you test all of the functions? This model was notorious for the belt that opens and closes the CD drawer breaking and needing to be replaced.

My general starting rule of used gear is: 1/2 of retail for most items. Digital stuff take another 1/2 from that price. So this sold new for $700, used price would be $350/2, so $175.00, but this is a tubed unit, so it should be worth a little more.

I would maybe start at $300 and deal down from there.

Oh nice. I have tested everything. And everything seems to work perfect. I used the regular speaker outlets and the optical output. It opens and closes no problem. I've played multiple cds and have had no issues. It actually sounds really good. Thank you for the info. Where do you think the best place to attempt to sell this would be? Here? I also have a Ebay account? Thank you for your time.

I did not know that. I just found this site last night and don't know much about it. Thank you for informing me.

Try selling it on here first. Audiogon would be my next place. You will sell it much more quickly on Audiogon, but they do charge a listing/selling fee.

Ok. Thank you. I'm in no hurry to sell. I'll post here first and see what happens. Thank you for your time and info. It has been very helpful.
