LP: Neko Case - Blacklisted
A very nice 180g British import. My fave Neko Case album.

CD: David Grisman - Hot Dawg
Mobile Fidelity gold disc. I'm embarrassed to say what I paid for it.
Probably too much.

Oh well, Life Is Short. 8)

I just received in the mail yesterday, a remastered 180g - 33 1/3 rpm Booker T and the MG's doing Beatles songs. I heard this album at last years Axpona show in the Highwater Sound room. I was blown away by the System and the album.

Hey PBB, that's a lot of great jazz titles you bought there. A very nice cross-section.

Not a big fan of folk music myself and I have virtually none in my collection but I watched the Coen Brothers flick Inside Llewyn Davis the other night and the movie AND the soundtrack were fantastic. In any other year, it would have been Oscar-bait for Best Picture.

Highly recommended !

So many shared interests here!
I am in good company...

Last purchase was a iTunes download of "The Very Best of Fletcher Henderson"

I have downloaded three and only three releases in my life so far. I am getting a little lazy, and I downloaded Bob Marley "Legend", and Mos Def "Black On Both Sides" at shows where I was doing sound and only had my iPad, and needed something genre specific to play between acts.

The last time this happened I was doing sound for a big band that was playing the earliest music of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, so I downloaded "The Very Best of Fletcher Henderson".

I recently purchased two 45 RPM albums at the Axpona show in Chicago 4/25/14. This format isn't cheep. Each album has two vinyl discs and cost $40.00
Diana Krall "Live in Paris"
Fleetwood Mac "Rumors"

BTW - back in 1978 I drove from Chicago to Pittsburg to visit family. My car broke down and I had to buy a car to get back home. The new car had a 8-Track tape player. I bought Fleetwood Mac Rumors 8-track and headed for home. 10 hours straight of Fleetwood Mac Rumors. I have not really listened to that album since. I gotta say the new 45 RPM format on a Technics SP-10 was a pleasant surprise.

Lew Tabackin, T. Miyama and his New Herd, "Vintage Tenor" RCA Japan.

It is a direct-to-disc record from 1978.

I love the sound of direct-to-disc records and wish that all LPs were like that! No tape recorders, all analog and the number of pressings is limited so that you don't get records pressed with sad and sorry stampers.

Except for some high-priced "audiophile" ones, most new LPs are not worth getting as the CD/SACD versions are generally better in all respects and certainly, when bought used, are a terrific bargain, but direct-to-disc recordings have transients to die for that make them a worthwhile purchase.

The jacket is almost immaculate as is the record.

$15.00+ tax I am satisfied with my purchase.

Alison Krauss and Union Station ~ Two Highways
Bonnie Raitt ~ Streetlights
Evelyn Glennie ~ Rhythm Song
Eva Cassidy ~ Time After Time
Astor Piazzolla ~ Maria De Buenos Aires
Jay McShann ~ Airmail Special
Yo-Yo Ma/Edgar Meyer/Mark O'Connor ~ Appalachia Waltz
Julian Bream ~ A Celebration Of Andres Segovia - Music Of Spain - Vol. 7

All 8 for $2.00 at a Salvation Army thrift store. Saved so much $$$ I treated myself to this SACD at Best Buy.
