Recent acquisition of a very special tube, the Mullard E180CC, prompted the build of a new phono stage to replace the 6 year production run of the H1200. Four of these Mullards are used for gain on this RIAA circuit. We elected to employ the four levels of gain step-up transformers from the bigger Allnic sisters, H1500 and H3000.

The performance is good, very good. Quiet, lots of gain with 38dB into the MM input and up to 70dB on the separate MC input. Customer feedback comments - wide deep stage, outstanding mid bass, great PACE, very quiet between tracks. Recent comparisons of competitor's phono stages many times the H1201s modest price were very instructive.
