Thinking about pairing a set of these monoblocks with with Martin Logan Summit X's. Not sure which I should do though.

 I can't compare the two pairs directly but have heard both and own the 1.2kw. You won't be sorry with either but there is an effortlessness with the 1.2kw that is not as prominent with the 601s. But...if you are looking for coloration it's not there with either.

I had 601s w a pair of montis and CLXs in a 14 x 30 room. I like to rock out on occasion when the wife and kids are away. Long story short, I couldn't get the 601s to come close to sweating.

Agree, Pass Labs outperforms McIntosh without a sweat, more clarity, more details. Once you go "Pass" you don't want to go back to McIntosh.

Hey there, Pass Labs fans,

Will Pass amps handle a 2ohm load? I'm running a Mac right now through some Thiel CS5i speakers -- nasty load -- 3ohm nominal and drops to 2ohms on bass blasts. I tried -- and crushed -- a few amps before settling on the Mac with its autoformers and 2ohm taps on the rear. I love the sound I'm getting now, and can crank it when I want, but if you're telling me that Pass will handle that nasty load, I'd love to give it a try. Always looking for better sound and an excuse to upgrade...

Bump.

I'm also curious about the MC1.2KW's. I agree that they have an undeniable smooth, torquey push to the music after hearing them a few times.

Are they still competitive today?

Thank you.

IMO there have been no significant advances in two channel amp and preamps, without spending mega $$$$$$. So I vote for still competitive :D

I was hoping you would say that. But, also afraid you'd say that. :D

If it means anything I have owned the 1.2 kWs for five years and used with four different preamps. In order of use, Mcintosh C100, Mcintosh C1000 tube and SS, Meridian 502, and Meridian G02. My C1000 is having issues and is off for repairs so while away it was necessary to have the Meridians as spares with the intent of selling them off after the C 1000 is back. I like the Meridian combos so much I am keeping the G02 as a secondary or backup.

"Destroy?" A LOT of used Pass amps on Agon at any one time. Why is that?
