If I did not like the Adcom 545 power module, I could easily swap with the Hypex power amp modules.
Stock wiring, tidyed up by its owner. I wanted to bury the Ac and the rectifier in the chassis pan.
Power supply alone (essentially 'the amp')
First time to ever wired a chassis with 10 gauge solid core wire for the DC runs. This amp has balls.
Hot rodded Adcom GFA545II.4
One Caddock resister direct from XLR to tube, a fabulous design.
There is a reason Atma-Sphere amps sound so wonderful... many are made with extra love for their owners.
I miss the 336, it was a beast, best by the Rowland M501. The Atma M-60 preferred to both. I am an OTL guy...
Looks like it is in motion
Moscode Super IT after rebuild (more naked pictures)
One of my favorite amp designs, it is brilliant
this was my inspiration for shoebox amp
Shoebox amp, mocking up power supply
Stock Adcom P/S wiring SUCKS, I made it a challenge to compact my wiring harness. Bury the AC, tranformer windings and rectifier in the hear of the amp, shielding it from the audio circuits.
Power amp in a shoebox manifested
I typically buy 3 of each amp chassis before I begin working on them, I will build amps in stages, compare and make notes. The first build usuallly proof of concept, then refine step by step, linearly until all 3 are the same or close.
Always modeling circuits, building and comparing...
Mighty Atma-Sphere MA-1 looms in the background, the amps in the foreground worthy of the company...
3 Kenwood KA-7100, in different stages of rebuild, I threw the Jensen capped MC500 into the mix, the Kenwoods are that good.
Ebay purchase, I was horrified (before)
I only listened to this amp for 6 hours tore it apart amd began marking it up for dual mono (as shown)
Chassis pan restoration DH500 (after)
Dual Mono, Jensen 4 pole caps (DH500 / DH280)
diverse grouping of amps, each with merits
My first super high end amp, owned 26 years.
This amp made as big of impression as any amp
