Selling my very nice Krell HTS 7.1. It was serviced by Krell last year. I had them look it over, replace 6 capacitors and upgrade it to the most current software (3.7). This is not only a fantastic processor for 7.1 but an incredible 2-channel preamp. The DAC is simply fantasic for 2-channel and 5.1 lossy formats. I A/B'd feeding the Krell via SPDIF vs. my Oppo 105D balanced outs as well as my UDP-205 and the Krell bettered them by a large margin. The Oppo was not only softer/drier on treble but it had a condensed soundstage compared to the Krell. What that means is with the Krell, I could hear everything spread out between my speakers with room between. The Oppo literally layered instruments on top of each other. Holographic is a good description. For HT, I used this unit with my 4k TV and fed it via Toslink. And even though it sounds better than my new Anthem AVM-60, I really wanted to move up to a Dolby Atmos setup and I'm not as critical on movies/TV as I am for music. For spinning discs, it has 7.1 Analog inputs. So you can get all the latest loss-less sound formats via the analog inputs - including Multi-channel SACD and DVD-A (if your Bluray/SACD/4k player has analog MCH outs). It is quite versatile with both XLR and RCA outs. And the best part of this Krell is it's analog stage (use 'Preamp Mode' for zero processing). I used it with my VPI deck for record playback. And I used the zone 2 out for recording my record collection. This unit is in great shape. I gave it an 8 only due to age. I couldn't find a single scratch but I always try and grade my audio components conservatively. And I'm sure if you look close enough you may find one. Search Google to read all the posts about this processor. Audiogon is always a critical website and there are plenty of great posts about the HTS 7.1 on there. I have the original box, remote, power cord and a printed manual from the product link page above. Price is firm as I am already losing money on this. Thanks for looking!
