The van den Hul Condor is a fantastic sounding cartridge that is between “the Frog” and the Colibri. It is a “nude” cartridge with no body, that reduces resonance. This is the copper wired version that sold for $4,500 when new. The guy I bought it from had it retipped, he had little to no playing time on it as he buys and sells cartridges, I got it for a customer that I was building a turntable for and he went a different direction, so I have less than an hour on it. I tested it after I cryo treated it, then I made two videos of it playing. It is the best sounding cartridge I have heard- period. I have owned and heard all of the top of the line Ortofon, XYX, Audio Note, Koetsu, Supex, etc and this is the cat’s meow. I am currently downsizing or would think of keeping this myself. I have two videos of it playing on two different set ups as far as turntables go. The idler drive 301 allows the bass to really shine through, but the bass is even better than a Supex 900… which is no slouch in that dept. It has better midrange (flatter and more defined) than a Denon 301 in a panzerholz body with a HE stylus upgrade… which is also saying something, it has better highs than a Stanton 881e, again that is a tall order. As you can see in the photos taken with a microsope, the diamond is in perfect condition. This would be a perfect match with the 12" Reed arm I have on the site. As I am down sizing, I will consider trades on this cartridge for a set of bookshelf speakers, must have at least a 6.5″ woofer or bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer.
.Please visit the site in the "Web site" box above for links to the original listing I bought this from and for Youtube videos of it playing. Here is a nice review of this cartridge, I believe the cryo treatment took away some of the razor sharpness this guy noticed: http://www.10audio.com/vdh_condor_xcm_xgm.htm
