Remote with Volume control enables the M1 SE DAC to connect directly to an amplifier, and operate as a preamplifier (assuming digital-only sources). Music flows from an inky black background. Purity defined. Using the remote, a user can change digital sources, filters, phase, and a number of other useful features. Honestly, having owned a volume controlled DAC with full feature remote, I'd have a hard time living without one.
