SOLD - FOR SALE: Soundsmith MMP3 Phono Stage (MK1) - 2021 build

Description

Originally purchased in May, 2021. This is the MK1 version. I inquired with Soundsmith as to what benefits the MK2 provide and received no reply, so I'm assuming (this is a guess!) that the MK2 upgrade was a parts replacement necessitated by supply shortages.

Rated a conservative 8 at it presents almost as-new except for some very minor scuffing on the RCA jacks which is normal wear. Ships with the original Triad power supply. Peter Ledermann told me via email correspondence that the Triad is a linear power supply, and not to expect any significant gains with an aftermarket LPS so I always only used this supply.

I was very satisfied with the unit but upgraded my main rig to a tube phono stage and my secondary system to a super-integrated with a fantastic onboard stage (Technics SU-R1000). The MMP3 has a lot of 'balls' and presents a big sonic for such an unassuming package. It doesn't present as immediately 'hi fi' or overly analytical - the sound is a bit fatter/has more meat on the bones in a good way i.e. not 'tubey'.
