I just received a bunch of Mark Tunis Black shadow power cords and speaker cables.(4 power cords and speaker cables).
When I opened up the box of cables It reeked with a terrible smell of smoke. So much so that I had to put them in the garage to air out. Very poor packaging as well.
I was shocked at how small the cables were in comparison with the pictures.
I was also shocked at the very poor build quality of the cables. I compared these with 20 year old Monster speaker cables and the Monsters were much heavier and built better. The power cables being 10AWG seen extremely small.
I would not trust plugging these in the wall. I would think something so cheaply built and flimsy might catch fire.
I got ripped off . Twelve hundred dollars down the drain.

I have to admit to having two of his Black Shadow power cords that have been delivering juice to my rather large tubed monoblocks for quite some time now and I have had no issues. Nothing smelled of smoke and his cords are a lot better than what the manufacturer provided and if the manufacturer thought their skimpy powercords would be just fine then the Mark Tunis' cables are heads and shoulders above what was supplied to me.

Not saying that you did not experience what you did. Just saying my experience with Mark was okay. Not a chatty or gregarious person but his cables seem to be okay to me...

Does this mean you're giving them away? I'd love to try them out.

Did you contact him thereafter? Hard to believe,I have 2 of his power cords and they were exactly as described in performance and appearance.

I really would like to see some photos next to your stock cables.

I see this thread started long ago... I recently purchased a cable from him and I am happy with the build and quality, however, the smoke issue is still there. I was not too thrilled about that. :(
