I recently came across a Linn Axis in what appears to be in good shape. It was store in its original box since 2003. It was purchased new in 1990. It has the original cartridge (a Linn K5).

The only issue is that I can't seem to get the turntable to shift to 45RPM. The red LED light never turns off for the green LED to light signifying 45RPM. What am I doing wrong or is there something wrong with the turntable?

Are you pressing and "holding" the power switch for a second or two? That what switches from 33 1/3 to 45 on the Axis.

I press and hold the switch for up to 10 seconds and the switch LED never light up the green. That is the indicator that informs you that the speed is now 45RPMs.

What am I doing wrong?

Your not doing anything wrong. There's a defect somewhere in the switching circuit. It needs a tech.

Get in touch with Thomas O'Keefe at http://overture-audio.com/. He is very active on the Linn forum and is thought of as one of the foremost authorities on all things turntable. I have no affiliation with him but I plan to have him setup my Sondek LP12 soon.

Thomas O. at Overture Audio in Ann Arbor is very helpful and knowledgeable . You could even call to consult 734-662-1812 . I know Tom is off this week though -- Back next week 8/13/18

I too have a Linn Axis, Akito arm and have to do the same thing to change speeds 33>45 . Sometimes unplugging it and replugging in and it starts off in the green on mine.

Enjoy the Linn!
