Did you ever find a pair? What do you think?

You got a love those guys that want three times market value for what they have… I never understood that, if you want to sell something put it up and get it done!

I am probably better off not pursuing these unobtanium speakers

I have a pair that was refurbished by Peter McAlister of McAlister audio that worked great for 2 years. Having a problem with one of them and need a kick in the butt to get it up and running again. I’ll kidnap Peter and sequester him to my shop and get it all sorted out. They may end up for sale after that.

Thank you,

JBLman :D

I'm located outside Owen Sound, ON which is approximately 120 miles north of Toronto. Attached are before photos of the Koss Model 1A's in their original cabinet and below are the same speakers loaded into custom cabinets by Peter McAlister. I would say they sound and image just like my Acoustat 2+2's except with more output in the lower end.

Thank you,

JBLman :D

Good afternoon JBLMAN. You stated the koss 1a sound like acoustat 2+2 which I own along with 1+1 s and 2200s and stax f81. Would you still buy a pair over your acoustats?

Here is my current set-up with Acoustat 2+2's. Some day I will get my Koss 1A's up and working. I can do a side by side comparison with the Acoustats. To be honest, the Acoustat is a far more robust, simpler design. Properly cared for, Acoustats can be good for another 30 years. In the photo there is a JBL B380 sub driven by a bridged Bryston 4BST. Since then, I've added another B380 which I found and restored along with another Bryston 4BST for a true stereo sub arrangement.

For the time being and based on my experience, I'll stick with the Acoustats.

Thank you,

JBLman (& Acoustat man) :D
