This message is displayed when I look at an ad from the email I just got at the address noted: WTF?

Warning, the email address "lsohn1@epbfi.com" in your account is not able to receive emails from us

Unfortunately, your ISP has informed us that the email is either invalid or they refuse to deliver email from us to that address. You must change your email to continue receiving emails from us, including replies to your classified ads.

And somebody wants to charge me $25 to change my user name....

What is going on folks?

Welcome! to the Forums.

Yeah it smells pretty fishy. USAM / CAM would never charge you to change your username. You'd have to close your current account and re-register with a different username, that's all.

And of course don't open any attachments in the message that you received.

This is not a scam, your email address bounced on Aug 30th and your ISP has asked us to stop sending you emails. I've cleared the status from your account, but if it occurs again you out to talk to your ISP.

This is the bounce your email issued:

Quote:
smtp;550 5.1.1 <______________> recipient rejected

Could you show a screenshot of where you tried to change your email and it asks for the $25 username change fee? The $25 username change fee is legitimate, but there's no reason to change your username when the system is asking you to change your email.

Yes, if you read the registration notes, you'll see this:

Quote:
Choose your username carefully! Once an account is created, usernames can only be changes by a $25 USD fee.

Usernames are an important part of the communication process and people build their reputation of their name in the marketplace over time, so we don't usernames to change much.

However, the OP does not need to change his username, the warning is letting him know that his email address is bouncing emails from USAM. The two are totally separate and unrelated issues. Now that I cleared the message from the OP's USAM account, he won't see it again unless his ISP bounces another email, after which we'd suggest he consider changing his account's email address.

Duly noted and I stand corrected.
